Om Tryambakam - The LIfe-Giving Prayer

The Om tryambakam Mantra is the Universal Healing Mantra of Eastern Medicine and Spirituality. Its literal translation is:

From the book 'Healing Mantras' by Thomas Ashley-Farrand 'Om Trayumbakam Yajamahe Sughandhim Pushti Vardanam Urvar-ukamiva Bandhanan Mrityor Muksheeya Mamritat

'Shelter me, O three-eyed Lord Shiva.  (Universal Source, experienced in deep meditation through the third eye between the eyebrows)--- Bless me with health and immortality and sever me from the clutches of death, even as a cucumber is cut from its creeper.'  Liberate me from the cycle of rebirth and death, pain and suffering.

However, it cuts far deeper than the literal meaning.  The sounds and syllables penetrate deep within all of the subtle and gross bodies and affords healing on many levels.  It is chanted for Universal healing and for healing of others.
